Operario Futebol Clube

One of the most traditional clubs in Mato Grosso do Sul, Operario Futebol Clube is a multi-time state champion and a historic figure in Campo Grande football.

History

Founded in 1912 in Campo Grande, Operario Futebol Clube is one of the oldest and most traditional teams in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The club was born linked to railway workers from the region, which originated its name. Throughout the twentieth century, Operario consolidated itself as one of the main forces in Mato Grosso do Sul football, regularly competing in the Mato Grosso do Sul Championship (after the state's division in 1977) and winning several state titles. The club plays its home matches at the traditional Jacques da Luz stadium, popularly known as Morenao, one of the main sporting venues in the state capital. Despite never achieving major national prominence, Operario maintains a strong regional identity and is considered one of the historic and most beloved clubs by Campo Grande fans.
