Palermo Football Club

Palermo Football Club

Palermo is the biggest club in Sicily and one of the most distinctive in Italian football, famous for its unusual pink and black uniform. Representing the Sicilian capital, the club carries the vibrant identity of southern Italy. In the 2000s, it experienced its best historical period in Serie A under the presidency of Maurizio Zamparini.

History

Founded in 1900, Palermo spent most of its history in the lower divisions of Italian football. Its great rise came in the 2000s, when the club established itself in Serie A and revealed talents such as Luca Toni and Edinson Cavani. The financial crisis led the club to relegation and, in 2019, to bankruptcy and refoundation. After reconstruction through the divisions, Palermo returned to Serie B and seeks a return to the elite.
