Palmeiras 2003 was the team that won Serie B of the Brazilian Championship and guaranteed its return to the elite of national football. The campaign came after the club's first relegation in its history, in 2002.

History

Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras was founded in 1914 under the name Palestra Italia and built one of the greatest histories in Brazilian football. In 2002, however, the club was relegated for the first time to Serie B of the Brazilian Championship, a landmark event for the green and white supporters. In 2003, Palmeiras competed for the first time in the second national division. The team was obligated to achieve promotion and counted on the constant support of fans, who filled stadiums even during Serie B. The campaign was successful: Palmeiras finished as champions of Serie B 2003 and secured promotion to Serie A in 2004. The title was the club's first in the second division and became an important step in the sporting reconstruction of the Verdão, which would go on to win national titles in the following decade.
