History

Palmeiras was founded on August 26, 1914, in São Paulo, with the name Palestra Italia, and adopted its current name in 1942. Throughout the 20th century and early 21st century, the club established itself as one of the greatest champions in Brazilian football. From October 2020 onwards, the club was led by Abel Ferreira, a coach who presided over the most victorious period in Palmeiras' recent era, with victories in the Copa Libertadores, Copa do Brasil, and Brazilian Championship. In 2024, the team won the São Paulo State Championship and competed for the Brazilian Championship title until the final stretch, finishing in second place, behind champion Botafogo. The year also marked the departure of Endrick, a young striker developed in Palmeiras' youth academy, who transferred to Real Madrid in 2024. The team played its matches at Allianz Parque, a stadium inaugurated in 2014.
