Panathinaikos is one of the most traditional clubs in Greece and the biggest rival of Olympiacos. Founded in 1908, the club is one of the oldest and most successful in Greek football. Panathinaikos reached the final of the European Cup in 1971, the greatest achievement of a Greek club in history.

History

Panathinaikos reached the final of the UEFA Champions Cup in 1971, losing to Ajax with Johan Cruyff, in one of the greatest feats in Greek football. The club won 20 Greek league titles and remained a reference in national football for decades. Dimitris Domazos, the 'Monarch', is considered the greatest player in the club's history. In the 2000s, players like Kostas Katsouranis and Pajtim Kasami continued the tradition.
