Paragominas Football Club

Paragominas Football Club is a club from the state of Pará, in the city of Paragominas, founded in 2012. It was created to occupy the Green Municipality Arena, a stadium opened in the same year, and quickly gained prominence in state football.

History

Paragominas Football Club was founded on March 6, 2012, at the initiative of then-president Jorge Coqueiro. The idea was to prevent the newly-inaugurated Green Municipality Arena, opened in January of that year, from being left without a club in the region to represent it. Already in the inaugural season, the club won the Pará Championship Second Division in 2012. In the decision against Santa Cruz, they reversed the defeat from the first game and took the dispute to penalties, securing the first title in their short history. In 2013, in the state elite, Paragominas defeated Remo in the final of the return leg of the Pará Championship and reached the championship decision against Paysandu. They finished as runners-up, a notable achievement for a club with so little time in existence. The club plays its home games at the Green Municipality Arena, with a capacity of around 10 thousand fans, and continues as one of the representatives of the interior of Pará in state competitions.
