Pisa Sporting Club

History
Pisa Sporting Club was founded in 1909 and has since carried on its shield the coat of arms of the city of Pisa and the colors black and blue, which give rise to the nickname Nerazzurri. The Leaning Tower of Pisa was incorporated into the club's symbol decades later, becoming a permanent part of its visual identity from the 2000s onwards. The club's main cycle of success happened in the 1980s, a period when, under the leadership of executive Romeo Anconetani, Pisa competed in Serie A and became a respected name in Italian football. In honor of this administration, the club's stadium was named Arena Garibaldi – Stadio Romeo Anconetani. After decades alternating between the lower divisions of Italian football and facing financial difficulties, Pisa rebuilt its sports project in the 2020s. Under the guidance of coach Filippo Inzaghi, the club finished the 2024-25 Serie B season in second place, securing their return to Serie A for the 2025-26 season, ending a 34-year drought in the elite of Italian football.
