History

Founded in 1914, Portimonense Sporting Clube is the main representative of the Algarve region in Portuguese professional football. The club historically alternated between the First Division and the Second Division, having experienced its period of greatest stability in the elite of Portuguese football from the 2010s onwards. Known for revealing and reusing young players from bigger clubs, Portimonense became a respected team for its competitiveness even with a reduced budget compared to Portuguese giants.
