History

Founded in 1880 in the city of Preston, in northwest England, Preston North End is one of the most historic clubs in British football. In 1888, it was one of twelve founding members of the Football League, the world's first professional football league. In the inaugural season of 1888-89, the club won the championship without losing a single match, a feat that earned it the nickname 'The Invincibles'. In the same year, they also won the FA Cup without conceding a goal, consolidating one of the most legendary campaigns in football history. Throughout the twentieth century, Preston alternated between periods in the upper and lower divisions of English football, playing their matches at the traditional Deepdale stadium, one of the oldest football stadiums still in use in the world, and also home to the National Football Museum for many years. Currently, the club competes in the Championship, the second division of English football, maintaining a strong historical identity and a loyal fan base in the Lancashire region.
