History
The Queen's Park Football Club was founded on July 9, 1867, in Glasgow, and is Scotland's oldest associated football club. The nickname The Spiders is linked to the shirts with white and black horizontal stripes, adopted in 1873. On November 30, 1872, Scotland faced England in the first official international game, and the eleven Scots on the field were from Queen's Park. The club is noted as a pioneer of the passing game known as combination football. The team dominated the Scottish Cup in the early decades: it won the inaugural edition in 1874, and accumulated ten titles by 1893, a number surpassed only by Celtic and Rangers. It was also runner-up in the English FA Cup in 1884 and 1885, losing both finals to Blackburn Rovers, and is the only Scottish club to have reached a final in the tournament. For 152 years, Queen's Park maintained amateur status. On November 14, 2019, 91% of members voted to end amateurism. On February 9, 2025, the club eliminated Rangers from the Scottish Cup by winning 1-0 at Ibrox.
