History
Founded in 1904 in the industrial city of Charleroi, the club is one of the most traditional in Belgium, having competed in the national first division throughout several decades in its history. Sporting Charleroi had periods of prominence in the Jupiler Pro League, including participations in European competitions, in addition to forming the basis of its identity around popular support in the Walloon region. The club maintains historical rivalry with Standard Liège and is recognized for its investment in youth categories.
