Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad is the main club in the Basque Country, based in the city of San Sebastián, and represents a strong cultural identity linked to the region. The club was one of the great powers of Spanish football in the 1980s, when it won two consecutive La Liga titles. The Reale Arena is one of the most modern stadiums in Spain and offers an excellent fan experience.

History

Founded in 1909, Real Sociedad had its golden period in the 1980-81 and 1981-82 seasons, when it won La Liga consecutively, rivaling Athletic Bilbao. In that historic era, the club had a similar policy to Athletic's, hiring mainly Basque players. Over time, the club abandoned this restriction and began hiring internationally. In the 2000s and 2020s, Sociedad became competitive again, reaching the Champions League and revealing talents such as Xabi Alonso and Antoine Griezmann.
