History

Founded on June 20, 1928, Real Valladolid Deportivo is one of the most traditional associations in the Castile and León region of Spain. The club adopts purple and white colors, being one of the most singular and recognizable uniforms in Spanish football. The Estadio José Zorrilla, inaugurated in 1982 with a capacity of approximately 27,000 spectators, is the home of Pucela. The stadium is named after one of the most illustrious Spanish poets in history, José Zorrilla, a native of Valladolid, as a tribute to the city's cultural identity. In 1984, the club experienced its most glorious moment by winning the Copa del Rey, defeating Athletic Club in the final, its only title of national significance. The achievement consolidated Valladolid as a club capable of rivaling the great forces of Spanish football. A special chapter in the club's history was written in 2018, when former Brazilian striker Ronaldo Nazário, the Phenomenon, acquired majority stake in the club. Under his management, Real Valladolid returned to La Liga and gained greater international visibility, becoming a case of success in modern football management.
