Rio Branco Esporte Clube
Rio Branco Esporte Clube is one of the most traditional clubs in Mato Grosso, headquartered in Cuiabá. It is a protagonist, alongside Mixto Esporte Clube, in one of the oldest derbies in Mato Grosso football.
History
Founded in 1935 in Cuiabá, Rio Branco Esporte Clube is one of the pillars in the foundation of organized football in Mato Grosso, having participated in the creation of the state federation. Its red and white colors gave rise to the nickname Vermelhão, historically associated with the club throughout the region. Rio Branco built, throughout the 20th century, an intense rivalry with Mixto Esporte Clube, contesting the most traditional derby in the Mato Grosso capital. The club ranks among the teams with the most participations in the Campeonato Mato-Grossense since the competition's creation. Despite not having achieved consolidation on the national scene, Rio Branco remains a historical and cultural reference in Mato Grosso football, maintaining youth categories and recurring participation in state divisions.
