History

Royal Excelsior Mouscron was founded in 1921 in the border city of Mouscron, in the Walloon region. The club reached its peak in the 1990s and 2000s, when it regularly competed in the Belgian top division and participated in European tournaments organized by UEFA. The Stade Le Canonnier served as its historic home, hosting matches against major Belgian clubs such as Anderlecht and Club Brugge. The club underwent a restructuring in 2016, being refounded under a new administrative structure after financial difficulties. Currently it competes in the regional divisions of Belgian football, maintaining its loyal supporters in the Mouscron region.
