A Rio de Janeiro football club founded in 2006 in the city of Saquarema, in the Lakes Region of Rio de Janeiro. Competes in competitions organized by the Rio de Janeiro State Football Federation (FFERJ), with no direct relation to the traditional Sampaio Corrêa from Maranhão.

History

Sampaio Corrêa Football and Sport was founded on February 20, 2006 in the municipality of Saquarema, in the interior of Rio de Janeiro. Despite sharing the name, the club has no connection with the centennial Sampaio Corrêa from Maranhão, founded in 1923. Throughout its trajectory, the club progressively advanced through the divisions of Rio de Janeiro football, winning the third division of the Campeonato Carioca in 2009 and, years later, gaining promotion through Series A2 in 2023. In 2025, Sampaio Corrêa-RJ won the Taça Rio, one of the tournaments that comprises the Rio de Janeiro football calendar. The club plays its home matches at Estádio Elcyr Resende de Mendonça and is known by its supporters as Galinho da Serra.
