Unione Calcio Sampdoria

Sampdoria is one of Italy's most beloved clubs, representing the city of Genoa with its distinctive striped uniform. Founded in 1946, the team experienced its golden period at the turn of the 1990s. The club is famous for launching world-class players and for an attractive style of play.

History

Sampdoria won its only Italian title in 1991, under coach Vujadin Boškov, with a legendary generation formed by Roberto Mancini, Gianluca Vialli and other talents. In 1992, the club reached the Champions League final, losing to Barcelona. It won four Italian Cups and a Cup Winners' Cup in 1990. After this glorious period, the club alternated between highs and lows in Italian football.
