History
Santos Football Club was founded on April 14, 1912 and has Vila Belmiro as its historic home. After the Pelé era, the club went decades without winning a national title, until the 2002 Brazilian Championship campaign. The team coached by Emerson Leão relied on young academy-trained players like Robinho and Diego, alongside experienced players and midfielders such as Elano. The team stood out for its attacking football and speed, which captivated the crowd during the knockout stages of the tournament. In the 2002 Brazilian Championship final, Santos faced Corinthians. The team won the first game 2-0 and the second match 3-2, winning the title and ending a streak of national titles that had lasted since 1968. The generation of the Youth from the Village would become Brazilian champions again in 2004. Robinho and Diego went on to have prominent careers in Europe and the Brazilian national team.
