Santos FC 2004
Santos in 2004 was the champion team of the Brazilian Championship that year, managed by Vanderlei Luxemburgo. It was the club's second national title in the decade, after the one achieved in 2002, and had Robinho as the main star.
History
Santos Football Club was founded on April 14, 1912 and became world-renowned for Pelé's generation in the 1950s and 1960s. After a long period without major national achievements, the club returned to the top in 2002, winning the Brazilian Championship with a young and offensive team, which became known for Robinho's dribbling skills. In 2004, Santos reached the Brazilian title again, now under the command of Vanderlei Luxemburgo. The team maintained its offensive identity and the strength of its academy from Vila Belmiro, with Robinho as the main highlight and Elano as another important midfielder. The 2004 title consolidated the club's winning cycle in the early 2000s. Shortly after, the team was dismantled: Luxemburgo left Santos at the end of 2004 to take over Real Madrid and Robinho transferred to the Spanish club in 2005.
