Santos 2015-2016

Santos' period marked by back-to-back São Paulo State Championships in 2015 and 2016. In 2016, under Dorival Júnior's command, the team also finished as runners-up in the Brazilian Championship.

History

Between 2015 and 2016, Santos experienced a victorious cycle in the state championship, with a team that combined the experience of Ricardo Oliveira and the emergence of young talents developed in the academy, such as Gabriel Barbosa, known as Gabigol. The club won the São Paulo State Championship in 2015, in a final disputed against Palmeiras, and repeated the achievement in 2016, when they defeated Audax in the final. These two titles established the team as one of the strongest forces in São Paulo football at that time. In the 2016 Brazilian Championship, already under Dorival Júnior's command, Santos finished in second place, behind Palmeiras, and secured a direct spot in the Copa Libertadores group stage. Gabigol's time at the club, before his move to Europe, also helped to highlight this period in the club's recent history.
