São Francisco Football Club

São Francisco Football Club

São Francisco Football Club is a club from Santarém, in western Pará. It competes in the Campeonato Paraense and stars with São Raimundo in the main classic of Santarém football.

History

São Francisco Football Club was founded in 1957 in the city of Santarém, in western Pará, on the banks of the Tapajós River. Known as Leão Santareno (Santarém Lion), the club traditionally wears black and white colors. The club established itself as one of the main forces in interior Pará football, a region historically dominated by Belém clubs such as Remo and Paysandu. Its rise helped to decentralize football in the state. Its great rival is São Raimundo, also from Santarém, with whom it disputes the most important classic of the city's football, always with great mobilization of the local fans at Colosso do Tapajós Stadium. São Francisco regularly competes in the Campeonato Paraense and has participated in national competitions, such as the Brazilian Championship Series D, representing western Pará football on the national stage.
