History

Founded in the 1970s, São Gonçalo Esporte Clube was born as a representative of one of the most populous municipalities in the state of Rio de Janeiro, seeking space amid the hegemony of the large clubs of the state capital. For decades, the club competed in state-level access competitions, revealing athletes to larger teams and keeping alive the passion for football in the Metropolitan Region of Rio.
