History

Founded in 1979 in the capital Macapá, Sao Jose Esporte Clube is one of the traditional clubs in Amapá football, playing its home matches at Milton Correa Stadium, known as Zerao, because it is located on the Equator line. The club historically competes in the Amapá Championship, alternating seasons of greater and lesser prominence against rivals such as Trem, Amapá Clube, and Ypiranga-AP. Its trajectory reflects the development of organized football in the state since the late 1970s.
