The Sao Mateus Esporte Clube is one of the historic representatives of football in the north of Espírito Santo, based in the municipality of Sao Mateus. Throughout its trajectory, it has competed in several editions of the Capixaba Championship, alternating participations between the first and second state divisions. The club is a regional sports reference, contributing to the formation of athletes from the northern region of the state. Despite not having won major state titles, it maintains relevance as one of the oldest clubs still active in the region.
