São Paulo 1957
São Paulo's 1957 team was the Paulista State champion and played at Pacaembu, before Morumbi's inauguration. The squad featured left winger Canhoteiro and center-back Mauro Ramos among its main players.
History
São Paulo conquered the 1957 Paulista Championship, four years after the state title in 1953. The conquest established the club among the main teams in São Paulo football during the 1950s. At that time, the team still did not have its own large stadium and played its matches at Pacaembu. Morumbi would only be inaugurated in 1960. The squad featured Canhoteiro, a left winger who became one of the greatest idols in the club's history, and center-back Mauro Ramos, who would later become captain of the Brazilian national team that won the World Cup in 1962.
