History

The São Paulo Football Club, founded in 1930, had won its last Paulista Championship in 1957, the year the club did not yet have the Morumbi stadium, which was inaugurated in 1960. In 1970, the team reinforced by names such as Gérson, who had arrived in 1969 from Botafogo, and Pedro Rocha, hired from Peñarol, lifted the Paulista Championship, ending the 13-year drought. The title paved the way for back-to-back Paulista championships in 1971 and marked the consolidation of Morumbi as the club's home.
