São Paulo 1991

São Paulo in 1991, coached by Telê Santana, won both the São Paulo Championship and the Brazilian Championship in the same year. The team, with Zetti, Cafu, and Raí, paved the way for continental titles in 1992 and 1993.

History

Telê Santana took over São Paulo in 1990 and built a team focused on ball possession and advanced pressing. In 1991, the team won the São Paulo Championship and then conquered the Brazilian Championship, defeating Bragantino in the final. The squad featured goalkeeper Zetti, fullback Cafu, midfielder Raí, and striker Müller, players who remained the core of the team that won back-to-back Copa Libertadores titles in 1992 and 1993 and the Intercontinental Cup in both years. Telê's work and the 1991 squad helped consolidate São Paulo as one of Brazil's greatest clubs and supplied the Brazilian national team, which won the World Cup in 1994.
