São Paulo 2006-2008
São Paulo from 2006 to 2008, managed by Muricy Ramalho and with Rogério Ceni as a great reference, won three consecutive Brazilian Championships. It was the first back-to-back three-time national champion in the round-robin era.
History
After winning the Libertadores and the Club World Cup in 2005, São Paulo maintained the core team and, in 2006, began to be managed by Muricy Ramalho. The team was runners-up in the 2006 Libertadores, defeated by Internacional in the final, but won the Brazilian Championship that year. In 2007 and 2008, the team repeated the feat and achieved back-to-back three-time Brazilian championship, something unprecedented since the adoption of the round-robin system in 2003. The squad had goalkeeper and captain Rogério Ceni as its main symbol, in addition to names like defender Miranda and midfielder Hernanes, who stood out from 2007 onwards. The team became known for its defensive strength and Muricy Ramalho's tactical organization.
