History

Founded in 1889, Sheffield United has one of the richest histories in English football. The club won the English Championship in 1898 and the FA Cup in 1899 and 1902, establishing itself as a powerhouse in the early days of British professional football. Bramall Lane, inaugurated in 1855 and used for football matches since 1862, is a sports historical heritage. For decades, the club oscillated between divisions of English football, but returned to modern prominence with promotions to the Premier League in 2019 and 2023. The 2018-19 season was especially notable, with the team finishing fifth in the Premier League under the command of Chris Wilder. Among the greatest historical idols of the club are Tony Currie, Brian Deane and Joe Shaw.
