History
Siderúrgica was born in Sabará, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, linked to workers of the local steel industry, which earned it the nickname of Workers' Team. For decades it was a constant presence in the elite of Minas Gerais football. Its greatest moment came in 1964, when it won the Mineiro Championship, a rare achievement for an interior club, breaking the dominance of Atlético Mineiro, Cruzeiro, and América over the state competition. Over the years, with the growing professionalization of football, the club lost competitive strength and stopped competing in the main divisions of the state, but remains remembered as one of the symbols of worker football in Minas Gerais.
