FC Slovan Liberec
FC Slovan Liberec is a Czech club from Liberec, three-time national champion, known for being the first team from outside Prague to win the Czech Championship in 2001-02.
History
Slovan Liberec was founded in 1958 from the merger of clubs Jiskra and Slavoj, inheriting the football tradition of the city of Liberec, whose first club, SK Liberec, dates back to 1919. After years alternating between divisions, the club earned promotion to the Czech first division in 1993, beginning a trajectory of consolidation in national football, which included winning the Czech Republic Cup at the end of the 1990s. The peak of Slovan Liberec's history came in the 2001-02 season, when the club became the first team from outside the capital Prague to win the Czech Championship title, surpassing traditional rivals such as Sparta Prague and Viktoria Žižkov. Since then, the club has accumulated more national titles and established itself as a regular force outside the Prague axis.
