Spezia Calcio

Spezia Calcio is an Italian club from the city of La Spezia, in Liguria. In 2020, it achieved for the first time in its history promotion to Italian Serie A.

History

Founded in 1906, Spezia spent most of its history in the lower divisions of Italian football, alternating between Serie B and Serie C, always with strong support from fans in the Liguria region. In 2020, the club wrote the most important chapter of its trajectory: for the first time it achieved promotion to Serie A, after winning the Serie B playoffs, becoming the first club from La Spezia to compete in the elite of Italian football. Spezia remained for three consecutive seasons in Serie A (2020-21 to 2022-23), with campaigns fighting against relegation, before returning to Serie B. Its stadium, the Alberto Picco, is one of the most traditional in the region.
