Sport Club São Paulo
Football club from the city of Rio Grande, in the far south of Rio Grande do Sul, founded in 1908. Known as Papo, it is one of the oldest clubs in the state and plays its matches at Estádio Aldo Dapuzzo.
History
Sport Club São Paulo was born in 1908 in the port city of Rio Grande, during a period when southern Brazilian football was being organized by clubs from the southern coast, where Sport Club Rio Grande also emerged, the first football club in Brazil. Throughout the 20th century, the club established itself as one of the main forces in Rio Grande football, disputing local classics and participating in several editions of the Campeonato Gaúcho, as well as regional and promotion competitions promoted by the Rio Grande do Sul Football Federation. In recent decades, São Paulo de Rio Grande has alternated participations between state divisions, maintaining Estádio Aldo Dapuzzo as its home and preserving the city's sporting tradition, which shares public attention with the pioneering Sport Club Rio Grande.
