History

Sport Club do Recife was founded in 1905 and is one of the most traditional clubs in Pernambucan football and in the Brazilian Northeast, playing its matches at the historic Ilha do Retiro Stadium. The club's women's football department was structured as part of the movement for professionalization and investment in Brazilian women's football in recent decades. The Sport women's team began competing in competitions organized by the Brazilian Football Confederation, seeking to represent the strength of the red-and-black Pernambuco institution also in football played by women. Like the men's team, the women's team carries the visual identity and the centennial crest of the club, counting on the support of the Lion fans in its competitions.
