Sporting Kansas City

Sporting Kansas City is an American soccer club from Major League Soccer, originally founded as Kansas City Wiz in 1995. It is one of the founding clubs of the MLS.

History

Founded in 1995 as one of the ten original clubs of Major League Soccer, the team went through several name changes — Kansas City Wiz, Kansas City Wizards — until adopting its current identity as Sporting Kansas City in 2011. The club won the MLS Cup in 2000 (as Kansas City Wizards) and again in 2013 under its current name, as well as U.S. Open Cup titles. Since 2011, the club has played its home matches at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas, and is recognized for its organized fan base and for developing young talents for the United States national team.
