History

The club was founded on September 23, 1903, in the city of Fürth, in Bavaria, with the name Spielvereinigung Fürth. In the first decades of German football, it became one of the country's major powers. SpVgg Fürth was German champion in 1914, 1926 and 1929, which places it among the historic champions of German football. In 1996, the club merged with TSV Vestenbergsgreuth and became known as SpVgg Greuther Fürth. Sportpark Ronhof Thomas Sommer is its home. The Kleeblatt reached the Bundesliga in 2012-13 and 2021-22. On both occasions, it was relegated after a single season.
