Stabæk Fotball

Stabæk Fotball is a Norwegian club from the municipality of Bærum, in the Oslo region. Founded in 1912, it was Norwegian champion in 2008 and plays its home matches at Nadderud Stadion.

History

Stabæk was founded in 1912 in the municipality of Bærum, neighboring Oslo, initially as a multidisciplinary sports club. Football became the most prominent sport, and the team began using Nadderud Stadion as its home. National ascension came in the 1990s, when Stabæk reached the elite of Norwegian football and won the Norwegian Cup in 1998, the first major title in its history. That team became known for attacking football and its ability to develop Scandinavian players. The highest point came in 2008, when the club won the Tippeligaen title, the first Norwegian division, in a historic campaign that gave it access to European competitions. The following year, Stabæk competed in the qualifying round of the Champions League. In the following years, the club alternated seasons between the top division and the second Norwegian division, maintaining strong youth development work and remaining a reference in football in the Oslo region.
