Standard Liège is the leading club in the city of Liège, in eastern Belgium, and one of the most traditional and passionate clubs in Belgian football. Founded in 1898, the club has an extremely loyal and passionate fan base, known for the electrifying atmosphere they create at Stade de Sclessin. The red and white colors are synonymous with combative football and pride of the Walloon region of Belgium.

History

Standard Liège achieved its greatest European moment by reaching the semifinal of the European Cup in 1982. The club has accumulated 10 Belgian Championship titles, making it the third most successful club in the country. During the 1970s and 1980s, Standard was a powerhouse of Belgian and European football, rivaling Anderlecht in national competitions. In recent years, the club has worked to reclaim its elite status in Belgian and European football.
