Tapajós Football Club
Founded in 2014 in Santarém, in western Pará, Tapajós Football Club takes its name from the river that runs through the city, as a tribute to the local culture of the Lower Amazon region. It is one of the youngest clubs to compete in professional football in Pará.
History
Tapajós Football Club was founded on May 26, 2014, with the objective of promoting professional football in the Lower Amazon region of Pará. Still in 2014, it was affiliated with the Pará Football Federation and competed in the second state division. In 2015, the club made its debut in the elite of the Campeonato Paraense for the first time in its short history. The name "Tapajós" is a tribute to the river that bathes Santarém, a symbol of the river-dwelling identity of the city, which also gave rise to the nickname "Amazon Dolphin". The main title in the club's history came in 2018, when Tapajós won the Campeonato Paraense - Second Division, a result that guaranteed promotion to the top division of Pará football and consolidated the team as a rising force in the interior of the state.
