History

Founded in 1925 in the industrial city of Terni, Ternana built its identity around the rossoverdi colors and the nickname Le Fere. The club spent decades alternating between the lower divisions of Italian football. The peak came in the early 1970s: under the command of coach Corrado Viciani, famous for his style of short passes known as 'gioco corto', Ternana achieved in 1972 its first ever promotion to Serie A, returning to the elite also in the 1974-75 season. Since then, the club has established itself as a frequent figure in Serie B and Serie C, playing its home matches at Stadio Libero Liberati, named in honor of the motorcycle world champion born in Terni.
