Club The Strongest

Club The Strongest

Club The Strongest is one of the most traditional and successful clubs in Bolivia, based in La Paz. It is one of the few Bolivian clubs with frequent participation in the Libertadores Cup.

History

Founded in 1908 in La Paz, The Strongest is one of the oldest clubs in Bolivia, establishing itself as one of the main forces in Bolivian football throughout the twentieth century. The nickname Atigrado (or El Tigre) comes from its yellow and black colors, which recall the feline's fur. The club maintains a historic rivalry with Bolívar, its main opponent in La Paz, in the paceño classic, one of the most heated in the country. Playing at altitude in the Bolivian capital, The Strongest became a difficult opponent for visitors in continental competitions such as the Libertadores Cup. Throughout its history, The Strongest has won several titles in the Bolivian Primera División, being one of the clubs with the most national championships in the country, as well as constant participation in South American club tournaments.
