History

Sociedade Esportiva Tiradentes was founded on June 30, 1959, in Teresina, by a group of military personnel. The connection to this origin appears in one of its nicknames, Amarelão da PM. The club made its debut in professional football in 1972. The first state title came that very year. Tigre won the Piauí State Championship again in 1974, shared the trophy in 1975 with River, and also conquered the titles in 1982 and 1990. On the national stage, Tiradentes competed in Serie A of the Brazilian Championship in 1973, 1974, 1975, 1979, and 1983. In 1995, the club ended its male professional activities, maintaining its youth categories and women's team. In women's football, it became one of the main forces in the state, with ten Piauí State Championship titles between 2008 and 2023. The men's team reappeared in the second state division in 2020.
