Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor is the largest club in Turkey's interior and the main representative of the Black Sea region. Founded in 1967, the club challenged the hegemony of Istanbul's big clubs by winning six consecutive national titles between the 1970s and 1980s. It is considered the fourth largest club in Turkey in terms of national titles.

History

Trabzonspor lived its golden age between 1975 and 1984, winning six Turkish championships in ten years and becoming the biggest challenger to Istanbul clubs. The club was also runner-up in the 1983-84 UEFA Cup, its best European campaign. Legends such as Şenol Güneş, who would later become coach of the Turkish national team, and Hami Mandıralı marked generations. In 2022, the club won its seventh national title after 38 years of waiting.
