History

Founded on November 1st, 1903 by Portuguese immigrants living in Belém, Tuna Luso Brasileira is one of the oldest clubs in Brazilian football. The name refers to the Lusitanian heritage of its founders and the amateur league from which it emerged. Throughout the 20th century, Lusa won several Paraense Championship titles and was a protagonist of Amazonian regional football. The club makes up the traditional tripartite rivalry of Pará football with Remo and Paysandu, called 'Re-Pa-Tuna'. Despite the financial difficulties of recent decades, Tuna Luso maintains its cultural identity and historical importance to Amazonian football, regularly competing in the Paraense Championship.
