History
Founded in 1996 in the city of Tuntum, in central Maranhão, the club spent decades competing in regional and amateur competitions before consistently professionalizing itself. Tuntum's rise occurred in the 2020s, when the club climbed to the elite of the Maranhão State Championship and began to challenge the traditional forces of the state, such as Sampaio Corrêa and Moto Club. The club earned a spot in national competitions, competing in the Serie D of the Brazilian Championship and the Copa do Brasil, bringing the name of the small Maranhão city to the national scene. With its home ground at Estádio Zezão, Tuntum established itself as one of the main representatives of football from the interior of Maranhão.
