History
Founded in 1912 in the city of Juiz de Fora, Tupynambás Football Club is one of the oldest football clubs in the interior of Minas Gerais. The name refers to the Tupinambás, an indigenous people who inhabited the southeast region of Brazil. Throughout the twentieth century, the club competed in several editions of the Campeonato Mineiro, becoming one of the main forces in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais during certain periods, rivaling other traditional clubs in the region such as Tupi Football Club. In recent decades, Tupynambás has competed mainly in state-level access divisions, maintaining its fan base in the city of Juiz de Fora and producing players for Minas Gerais football.
