Udinese Calcio
Udinese Calcio is a historic club from northeastern Italy, recognized for its excellent ability to discover and develop world talents. The Udine club is famous for hosting the passage of Zico through Italian football and for having revealed players such as Antonio Di Natale.
History
Founded in 1896 in the city of Udine, in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, Udinese is one of the most traditional clubs in Italian football, although it has never won the Serie A title. In the decades following its founding, the club oscillated between Italian divisions, finding stability in the elite only from the 1980s onwards. The greatest historic moment occurred in the 2011-2012 season, when under the command of Francesco Guidolin, Udinese finished in third place in Serie A, even leading the championship for much of the season. The club became world-renowned in the 1980s for signing Brazilian Zico, who played for two seasons in Udine (1983-1985) and delighted the fans with his technical and elegant football. More recently, Antonio Di Natale became the greatest idol in the club's history, being Udinese's all-time leading scorer. The club's scouting and talent development model is a reference in European football.
