History

The Corporación Club Deportivo Universidad de Concepción was founded on August 8, 1994, under the presidency of Marcos Israel, creating the university's football department as a professional team. Before that, the university team had already competed in the Regional Championship of football between the 1940s and 1960s, facing historic clubs from the province of Concepción, such as Naval, Huachipato, Lord Cochrane and Arturo Fernández Vial, having won the regional title in 1962. In 1994 the team entered as a guest in the Third Division of Chilean football, making its debut against Deportes Talcahuano at El Morro Stadium, beginning the club's professional trajectory in Chilean lower divisions.
