Club Universitario de Deportes is the most popular and successful club in Peru, based in Lima with an immensely loyal fan base throughout the country. Founded by students from the National University Mayor de San Marcos, the club represents tradition and history in Peruvian football.
History
Founded in 1924, Universitario de Deportes accumulated the largest number of Peruvian Championship titles, becoming the most victorious club in national football. The club produced great talents for Peruvian and South American football, including legends such as Teófilo Cubillas and Roberto Challe. The Monumental Stadium of Lima, where the club plays its home matches, is the largest stadium in South America and the stage for the greatest glories of Peruvian football.
