Football club from Oslo, one of the most popular and traditional in Norway, multi-time national champion and with strong local rivalry with Lyn and Skeid.
History
Founded in 1913 in the Valerenga neighborhood in Oslo, the club quickly became one of the main forces in football in the Norwegian capital, winning its first national title in the first half of the 20th century. Over the following decades, Valerenga IF built one of the largest fan bases in the country, with emphasis on the titles won in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, as well as a national title in the 2000s under the command of former Norwegian national team player Kjetil Rekdal. Currently the club plays its matches at Intility Arena and remains one of the protagonists of the Eliteserien, the main national championship, regularly competing in European club competitions.
